With new software-defined networking (SDN) solutions onboard, the value-added distributor strengthens its position in the future of network traffic control

OLDSMAR, Fla. – April #, 2016 Global Convergence Inc. (GCI), the value-added distributor specializing in voice and data networks and enterprise mobility, has announced that it has bolstered its SDN business by partnering with Nuage Networks and Alcatel Lucent (both now under Nokia), Alcatel Lucent Enterprise and Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT). The move fast-tracks GCI’s growth and international expansion in SDN, which allows companies to benefit from easier-to-manage networks and reduced administrative burden.

“SDN gives businesses the ability to virtualize networks in a way that’s easy to configure and maintain,” said Jim Bradshaw, CEO and chairman of the board of GCI. “Enterprises are spending more on SDN this year than ever before because they see the value in the improved agility it provides. That is why, at GCI, we are committed to being on the cutting edge of this technology through partnerships with the best in the field.”

Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT), a leader in hyperscale data center technology, is the most recent SDN vendor to partner with GCI. Alcatel Lucent, an IP networking, ultra broadband access and cloud technology specialist, delivers its SDN solutions under the brands Nuage Networks, VitalQIP and Vital Suite. And Alcatel Lucent Enterprise, which specializes in communications, networking and cloud solutions for businesses of all sizes, rounds out the SDN group. Nuage Networks delivers a scalable SDN solution that ensures the datacenter and wide area network are able to respond instantly to demand. The four new vendors are joining existing SDN/hybrid cloud solution partners MRV and Kemp Technologies.
